Position Title:   Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Registered Nurse

General Description:

This position is primarily responsible for providing skilled nursing care and care coordination for adults with opioid use disorder receiving Medication Assisted Treatment. Care coordination consist of carrying and maintaining a schedule seeing clients enrolled in the MAT program, assessment of medication management and other treatment modules for opioid and alcohol dependent clients, making recommendations for treatment depending on the patient’s phase of recovery and managing the MAT registry of clients who are receiving either Suboxone, Sublocade or Vivitrol. This comprises at least 80% of the job function.   This position will serve as a resource to primary care providers and staff along with BH and Integrated Recovery staff in terms of education, program improvement and liaison with outside agencies including BMC OBAT program.

Salary/Status:            Non-Exempt

Minimum Requirements:

  • RN with current MA license, minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Psychiatric/addiction background required
  • CARN licensure preferred but not required
  • Non-judgmental attitude in regards to dealing with patients in recovery and relapse
  • Proven project management skills and strong addiction knowledge base 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, planning, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties:

  • In collaboration with OBAT Team members, contribute in developing policies, workflows and protocols for MAT/OBAT Program, including inclusion of care management and support for patients on Vivitrol, Sublocade and Buprenorphine.
  • Pursue continuous educational trainings in efforts to provide the highest quality services to patients and improve health outcomes
  • Work closely with community partner organizations to ensure appropriate co-management and/or seamless coordination of care at all levels of care
  • Conduct intake assessments and review program expectations, medication options Buprenorphine inductions; monitor addiction treatment plans with patients in weekly to monthly visits
  • Conduct Naloxone (intranasal administration) teaching for all patients and the families and friends of patients
  • Facilitate prior approvals and manage all insurance issues
  • As this is a new position, there may be other responsibilities and duties that may occur as the MAT program evolves and expand.
  • This position may also require managing other projects that are delegated and/or assisting with other clinical nursing duties.
