Advanced Practice Provider Resident

General Description:

The Advanced Practice Provider Resident shall work with current Caring Health clinicians and administrators to increase proficiency in diagnosis, treatment and promotion of health-related items through a combination of didactic and clinical experiences for a 1-year program. The resident will be required to commit to at least a 2-year agreement with Caring Health of full-time employment after completion of their residency per Caring Health Center’s need at the time of residency completion.

Reports to:         Chief Medical Officer, Chief Clinical Officer/Director of Nurse Practitioner Residency Program

Salary/Status:     $75,000 per year stipend with standard employer contribution of benefits

Status:                Exempt

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Anticipated graduation by May 2023 from a MSN/DNP Family Nurse Practitioner program OR Master’s level Physician Associate program OR less than one year of clinical practice post graduation from higher education program
  2. Passing of ANCC or AANP certification exam prior to May 31, 2023 (or provide documented delay information from testing site or FNP educational program) OR completion/passing of NCCPA board exam prior to May 31, 2023
  3. Ability to attain professional practice, Mass CSR and DEA licenses prior to yearly start date in September, 2023
  4. Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary team, including physicians, nursing staff, social workers, and case managers.
  5. Previous experience in ambulatory care and/or public health is preferred.

Desirable:

  1. Fluency in Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Nepali, Vietnamese or another language served at CHC
  2. Special expertise in provision of health care to underserved, culturally diverse populations 

Principle Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Participates as student in didactic classes as scheduled (weekly but subject to change) and presents patient cases as assigned.
  2. Complete weekly journal entries to track personal and professional development through the program.
  3. Adequately complete proposed quarterly non-clinical assignments including: quality improvement tasks, community service events, journal article review and precepting of FNP students.
  4. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments.
  5. Identifies potential and actual health and health-related problems
  6. Evaluates patient responses associated with the problem area(s).
  7. Diagnoses acute and chronic illness.
  8. Develops and implements treatment plans that include pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic components.
  9. Includes the patient and family as active participants in treatment plan.
  10. Focuses the resident's Patient interaction on wellness, health promotion, disease prevention, and self-care.
  11. Offers comprehensive clinical family planning services when appropriate.
  12. Reviews patient charts and ensures appropriate treatment plans are developed and followed.
  13. Completes all charts the same day of care or no later than 72 hours after the visit.
  14. Patient charts are completed in a manner that meets all risk management and chart audit requirements.
  15. Collaborates and consults with CHC physicians and other providers. When deemed necessary refers patients to appropriate specialists and other practitioners and facilities.
  16. Cooperates with efforts of CHC administration to monitor and improve the quality of patient care by evaluating patient outcomes.
  17. Maintains updated Nurse Practitioner guidelines.
  18. Participates in peer review of charts.
  19. Maintains all CME/CEU, Board and Licensing requirements of state and national governing Boards.
  20. Duties as assigned 

This position requires compliance with Caring Health Center’s compliance standards including its Standard of Conduct, Compliance program, and policies and procedures.  Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the resident regular performance evaluation.

This position also requires the ability to use a computer, work at a computer workstation, viewing a CRT and have some knowledge of a keyboard.

From time to time, it also requires the ability to work long and arduous hours.
