Health Information System Training Coordinator

General Description:    

 The Health Information (HI) Systems Training Coordinator will serve as the lead HI systems/applications trainer with a primary focus on Epic OCHIN (electronic medical record). The Coordinator will oversee the training environment, materials/curriculum, and methods for clinical and non-clinical end users in the HI Systems and supporting IT applications. The Coordinator will ensure standardized, competency-driven, and role-based training programs to support clinical or business operations practice.

 Minimum Requirements:

  1. Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferred Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum 2 years of relevant medical/health care or education/training experience.
  3. Preferred experience with Epic or Epic OCHIN systems (or other Electronic Medical Record systems.)
  4. Preferred experience with training/facilitation and/or curriculum development.
  5. Preferred Learning Management System experience.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work across multiple audiences.
  7. Ability to provide professional guidance and oversight to team members.
  8.  Possesses strong change leadership skills, public speaking and ability to inspire others.
  9. Ability to travel between facilities and training sites.
  10. Strong presentation and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  11.  Strong "people skills" with the ability to build rapport.
  12.  Comfort with technology and ability to adapt to change.
  13. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  14. Exercises a high degree of autonomy.
  15.  Demonstrated project management concepts/skills.
  16. Working knowledge of best practices in Adult Learning principles.
  17. Complete assigned HI systems trainings/certifications within the first 3-6 months.
  18. Valid State driver's license and own transportation required.

 Principle Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the HI Systems training environment, training materials and methods for clinical and non-clinical end users in the HI Systems and supporting IT applications.
  • Using best practice Adult Learning principles, translates the functionality of HI system configuration and workflow into the creation of the training environment, easy to understand learning objectives, and activities for application end users.
  •  Identifies and advocates for innovative learning solutions that meet user-needs (instructor-led, synchronous online, on demand web-based training, and blended learning.
  • In collaboration with RPH leadership, creates/modifies written curricula/lesson plans that include learning objectives (e.g., cognitive, affective, and psychomotor), content, methodologies and evaluation measures) for role-based training programs to support clinical or business operations practice.
  • Prepares and manages requirements for training sessions in collaboration with the project team.
  • Ensures integrity of training requirements, training instructional materials, and evaluation plans.
  • Identifies and advocates for innovative learning solutions that meet user-needs (instructor-led, synchronous online, on demand web-based training, and blended learning.
  • Identifies initial and ongoing training needs of end- users using a variety of teaching strategies and principles of adult learning
  • Provide direct end user training and coordinate training for new software releases.
  • Responsible for development of any training staff (HI Analysts and/or Super Users), support and administration of training programs, and leading the ongoing education of the trainers.
  • Serves as team lead for trainers in assigned application and provide oversight.
  •  Utilizes feedback from end-users to maintain and update training environment and curricula
  • Demonstrates the ability to evaluate and include evidence-based practice and quality improvements in supporting training of end-users.
  • Supports the assigned application, and is responsible for achieving an in-depth understanding of the software/software updates, policies and procedures, and workflows for assigned application.
  •  Maintains documentation as it relates to technology training.
  • Reviews new application enhancements/upgrades and assists in development of implementation plans.
  •  Responsible for defining, managing, and leading training project tasks within the constraints of time and scope.
  • Depending on applicant, may be cross-trained in HI Systems Analysts responsibilities including help/support desk management.
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
